MSJ Rent A Wall Project

Just a short update on our latest project, which is the November Rent A Wall Exhibition that is held in Asia City Complex. It will be held from the 9th till the 15th November. It is located on the first floor, in between a shoe shop called Lewre and a gift shop. Once you go up the escalator, you will see it right away.

Do come and see the exhibition and enjoy the pictures that are exhibited. You can also vote for your favourite picture. See you there~!!!

In our first ever Rent-A-Wall event which was held in Centre Point, we caught the attention of many people who were in the shopping mall. What we didn't expect was to catch the attention of the local media, namely New Sabah Times. Our Rent-A-Wall event was on the 3rd page of New Sabah Times on the 4th of October. The article was written by Nazri Noor. The article explains the purpose of the event, which is to give amateur photographers the chance to show off their work in an environment which has a big crowd. That is why MSJ targets to hav the Rent-A-Wall in shopping malls around Kota Kinabalu.

Breeze Magazine Model Casting - 17.09.2009

This is a video of the Breeze Magazine Model Casting that was held in MSJ Studio. The purpose of the model casting is to select a suitable model to showcase clothings by CaCa Fashions. The pictures will be on the Breeze Fashion Page in the October issue. The judges consisted of Gerry Kong from MSJ Productions, Jonathan Bong from Breeze Magazine, Polly Chia from Arissa Studios, Kevin from G-Cuts and Lam Lam from CaCa Fashion. Here is the video. MSJ will be having a model casting for Breeze magazine where selected models will be featured in the magazine's Fashion page. The clothing for the actual photoshoot will be provided by CaCa fashion.

The details are as follow:-

- Casting on 16/9/09 (Wednesday)

- Photoshoot on 22/09/09 (Tuesday)

3 models are required.

Model Requirement:-

- 160cm

- slim and cute

Please send in your name, contact and photos to msjmedia@gmail.com. Models will be given a set of softcopy photos, one A3 Poster print from MSJ and one clothing from CACA. Terms and conditions apply.

Arissa Photoshoot

On the 31st of July until the 2nd of August, MSJ collaborated with Arissa in a Makeover Photoshoot which was held in Karamunsing.

Arissa had an offer where you pay RM 35 and you will get a hairdo, make-up and a free A4 size photo. The event had a very good response which made it a very successful event.

The assistance and dedication from MSJ members played a big role in making the event run smoothly. Without their help, the photography part of the event would have been a disaster.

Due to the success of this event, there will be another similiar event which will be held in Palm Square, Centre Point, KK. This event will be a collaboration between MSJ Photography, Arissa, G Cuts, ZeeTech and Yin & Yang boutique. Don't miss out on another great event~!!!

Kysham and Vivian's Pre-Wedding Photoshoot

From the 7th of August until the 9th of August, MSJ Photography had a 3 day pre-wedding photoshoot. It was Kysham and Vivian's pre-wedding photoshoot. The photoshoot was held in various such as Lembah Impian, Jesselton Point, Tanjung Aru Resort and Bukit Padang.

Hannah Tan Photoshoot

     On the 7th of August, our very own Malaysian celebrity, Hannah Tan came to our studio for a photshoot. She came all the way to KK because she was attending the Film Festival that was held in KK. The pictures were for Breeze Magazine. Some of our excited members (yes, they were all male) came to the studio to take pictures of her (who wouldn't~!!!).
     Everyone had a good time during the photoshoot. Apparently, Hannah Tan wasn't the only one who was the centre of attraction. Gerry's new puppy, IP Man, was also the centre of attraction. Hannah Tan couldn't resist his cuteness and can't stop taking his pictures.
     We had a great time working with Hannah Tan and Breeze magazine. MSJ looks forward to working with both of them in the near future.

Basic Studio Flash Workshop Level 1

MSJ had a basic studio flash workshop which was held at the MSJ Photography Media studio on the 25th of July. As many as 8 people attended the workshop and Gerry Kong was the tutor for that workshop.

Those who attended the workshop were taught the basics of studio lighting which covers ligting techniques and ways to communicate with the model.

The workshop was divided into 2 sections where the first part is the basic lighting technique. What was taught in the first part was the specifications of the lights, the camera settings, setting up the lights and equipments. After that, they were divided into 2 groups. Each group tested what they learnt and were given the oppurtunity to play around with the studio flash.

On the second part of the workshop, Gerry Kong taught the students on how to communicate with the model as in is a very important skill in studio photography. After that, students were given the oppurnity to take pictures of the models by themselves. The workshop was concluded with a photo sharing session where students can look at the pictures taken and discuss about them.

The workshop was a successful one and those who attended the workshop not only learnt alot but also had a great time.
